About Grief Guide

Grief is a natural and complex response to loss; the death of someone you love, the end of a relationship, a significant health or life change, the loss of who you thought you'd become.

It can't be rushed or ignored. It demands to be witnessed.

And yet, as a society, we often struggle to know how to sit with it, in ourselves or in others. We avoid what we don't understand, what we fear, or what makes us uncomfortable.

Grief Guide exists to change that.

This is a specialist service for individuals who are grieving and need support that goes beyond what a GP or general counsellor can offer. It's also a service for health professionals who work with grieving clients and are looking for clinical supervision or training.

I'm based in Meanjin (Brisbane), with face-to-face sessions available at Flow State Psychology in Sumner, and telehealth available by phone or video call, wherever you are.

Let me guide you towards a different way of grieving, where you can feel seen, heard, and valued in your experience, at your own pace, and perhaps even find a place for hope and joy again.

About Ali Mills

BHlthSci (Psych), MCoun, MACA Level 4

My name is Ali and I'm a Registered Counsellor and Accredited Supervisor specialising in grief, loss, and bereavement.

Over more than 12 years of clinical work, I've had the privilege of supporting individuals and teams across Queensland in caring for those experiencing loss. I've worked in oncology, palliative care, perinatal support, family separation, and with children, young people, and those impacted by traumatic and sudden loss.

I understand what it means to hold space for someone in the hardest moments of their life, and I understand that grief is not a problem to be solved. It's an experience to be accompanied.

My work extends beyond individual sessions.

I've led clinical teams, developed therapeutic programs, and provided supervision to practitioners working in some of the most emotionally demanding spaces in the community and healthcare.

I bring that same thoughtfulness and care to every client and supervisee I work with.

I have a particular interest in supporting young people through grief and loss, and I'm committed to creating a space where people of all ages feel genuinely seen, heard, and valued.

I'm so glad you're here.
